Hulumale house reef - South East - North Male Atoll - Male region
This reef is located on the North Male atoll.
Lance the ocean side is a sparsely vegetated reef slope showing the spread of green branches tubastrea coral. Schools red tooth trigger fish are hiding themselves in holes and crevices. We arrived at some napoleonlipvissen. This dive site we visited to make our check dive. We ended our dive through the pass into the dive we ended up in a strong current. A weak dive site with no real highlights.
Kurumba House Reef - South East North Male Atoll - Male region
A steep wall dive where currents can be strong. No specific highlights of this dive. Some moray eels, a few slugs ... .. During this drift dive where we took off a great distance, we saw no pelagic species. Only a few passing stekelmakrelen patrolling the reef.
Banana Reef - Southeast - NORTH MALE ATOLL - Himmafushi region
In the briefing we were promised a dive with mild currents that we northeast side of the reef were delivered. We were on the east side of the reef and were dropped into a hellish stream where we go helter-skelter over the south side of the reef flew near the end of the rifstructuur in a slightly calmer part to arrive. There was little time to look around and out of small reef fishes was not significantly observed.
Not suitable for novice divers.
Valessaru caves - North West - SOUTH MALE ATOLL - Region Vaadhoo
We visit this dive site with a smooth sea and no current. The reef wall is covered with a pretty wonderful diversity of hard corals. The table corals grow in layers on top of each other. The large fish populations attract our attention. Large groups of sweetlips and fusiliers schools still hanging in shallow water. A napoleon wrasse will swim slowly past while a small eagle ray crosses our path into deeper water. Between 15 and 30 meters depth are impressive overhangs and small caves. Contains different types of corals and hydroides. Some phyllididae slugs, we also disappointing. On closer look on three fins are very beautiful and kamtandslijmvisjes to admire. A beautiful dive to just astonished to enjoy the great biodiversity that is here.
Embudhoo Express North East SOUTH MALE ATOLL - Region Vaadhoo
For this adventure diving to catch warden, we dropped into the open blue ocean where the currents take us to the entrance of the newly released. At 35 meters depth at the entrance of the pass there is a plateau. Ideal for a position to take the flow passes over the divers. Legally, however, the Maldives requires '30m maximum 'depth line to respect. I see many a diver sin against this rule and reason with this! We saw white tip reef shark, gray reef shark, black shark point, napoleon wrasses and small schools stekelmakrelen. After 15 minutes at a lookout to have been let one come along and run by the current pace. As the dive progresses, the flow and some bays in the reef wall are points where you can find shelter from the current. One can find regular and giant morays netmurene's great. There also grow lots of nettles hydroides how little people to find! Not suitable for beginners!
Kuda Giri wreck - SOUTH MALE ATOLL South East - Region Guraidhoo
Near a small 'thila "we can from the reef on the south side has a nice wreck see it. The bow of the Kuda Giri leans against the reef slope on. The wreck rests upright and there is sand at 30 to 35 m depth. The wreck is beautiful and sparse vegetation provides a soft coral pink tint on the ship's sides. The top of the wreck is around 20m. From the wreck, one can easily cross over towards where beautiful coral overhangs may provide great photo compositions. Soldiers Fishing shelter there and variable spine oysters (Spondylus varius) are found in numbers. The (Coccinella) snail is present in great numbers. A beautiful Polyclad flatworm and some beautiful kamtandslijmvisjes complete the picture. This is a beautiful dive site!
Guraidhoo reef - South East - SOUTH MALE ATOLL - Guraidhoo region
With a visibility of more than 40 and no significant movement was a dive where photographers and videographers are able to enjoy equally. Napoleon wrasses, sting mackerel patrolling along the steep wall into a sandy area uitvlakt at a depth of 30 to 35 meters. Lots of reef fish keep it up. In the shallows different types of snappers including the five lines snapper. There were also some small eagle rays seen. This was a very easy and enjoyable dive for all levels.
Guraidhoo corner - south east - SOUTH MALE ATOLL - Guraidhoo region
We did this dive with a not too strong outgoing current in the pass. We summarize the dive along the ocean side, which we unfortunately were dropped too far. It took a while before we reached the point where only one angle and outer reef. This is normally the place to themselves to prepare for large sea creatures to see pass. There were some large Napoleon wrasse, a few white tip reef sharks, gray reef shark and a marble a few rays. Without doubt, this spectacular dive even have been slightly greater if the flow had been. The visibility was very good and certainly approached the 30 to 40 meters. An absolute must! This dive site however, one must assess its own history. The currents here can be very strong and this dive site is therefore only suitable for divers with sufficient experience.
Mundu Bala - Ghiri - South East - SOUTH MALE ATOLL - Guraidhoo region
In line with the 'Guraidhoo' is only a small 'thila' island with a circumference of about 60m. We could well hide a gentle flow. In the descent we were welcomed by a school of batfish. Once near the reef we found a nice octopus soon. Among the over hanging boughs anthipates beautiful black coral. Underwater bright blue finger-like reef sponges adorn the walls and in between one of the sponge formations we found a beautiful frogfish. The clear blue frogfish found when taking a flash picture with a nice light pink color on them. We found also a beautiful bearded scorpionfish. Another group, there was also a real stonefish.
This is a beautiful dive site where you can quietly look around and surprising things can be found. We recommend suitable for divers of all levels.
Even at half the frogfish visit was still in the same place to find. The school had expanded batfish and playful they came to enjoy our bubble symphony!
REGION ARI
Dighurah arches - South East - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Dhangethi region
A drift dive we start with the incoming flow. Along the reef wall several coves which include a marble rays, giant moray different, soldier fish and cardinal bass hide. Stekelmakrelen hunt along the steep walls of unwary prey. Starts on the sandy bottom 25 to 30 m depth. The visibility was limited to 15 meters and the large amounts of food in the water for sudden surprises. Thus two groups saw a small whale shark passing cruisde.
Dighurah thila - SOUTH EAST SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Dhangethi region
Slight current and a field of green tubastrea branches between which an overgrowth of sponges and blue masses hydroides nettles are a typical feature of this dive site. Very few small marine life, we could observe. Some bearded scorpion fish were lying in wait for prey to outwit. A small white tip reef shark was swimming in shallow water beyond. Under a rock structure in shallow water were five big lobsters. Outside these observations was not exceptional dive site.
Ranveli house reef - south east - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Dhangethi region
This drift dive where we can and can travel long distances we summarize Ranveli near the resort. A sunken bar is located at about 25m where the reef uitbodemt in a sandy plain. Under this bar, we found a black spotted stingray (marmerrog). The flow along the reef brought us in different speeds through impressive coral gardens. Large amounts of table corals lie in layers to each other and extend to just below the water surface. A regular look at the blue yielded the observation of several eagle rays on. Among the corals Fusiliers parade big schools. At the end of the dive we found in shallow water also a real stonefish.
Stingray City (Orimas Faru) south east - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Dhangethi region
The dive guides alerted us in advance of the large amount of large rays that would welcome us on this dive site. Apparently they are regularly fed by divers from the nearby resort and the sound of the engine is to get them in large numbers of us to appear. Several black and spotted rays 'jenkins' rays are present. Along the reef wall, there are several coral blocks where a variety of rifvisjes frolicking. Between them a few more rare species like the king wrasse (Coris freirei).
Napoleon thila - South East - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Dhangethi region
This thila reef walls, we also quite strong currents. There are some smaller white tip reef sharks and observed to the north we find attractive about hanging with impressive sea fans. In one of these we also find a beaked coral climber. Polyclad a flatworm that I never perceived dwelt in the quiet surroundings. From here we could flow in a large school of black snappers see. Like all dive sites, there are huge amounts of red tooth triggerfish present who hide among the crevices in the rocks.
Angaga thila South West - South Ari Atoll - Rangali region
At moderate to fairly strong currents we jump into the water with empty BCD to directly descend to the eastern point of this thila where the current divides. At the bottom at about 35 meters deep are several white tip reef sharks to rest. They swim slowly when disturbed by the flashes of the photographers. There are small overhangs which soldiers present fish and squirrel fish hiding. Large quantities of sea fans there are across the reef wall designed to take full advantage of the food they can absorb the flow. The riftop is about 9 meters depth and a very large font shell stands quite alone among the coral rubble. A few turtles have been grazing.
Maamigili beyru - South West - South Ari Atoll - Rangali region
Stretches along the ocean side on the southwest side of the ari atoll a long reef. This reef is not as rich in small reef fishes, but is more known for the encounters that are possible with whale sharks, rays and other large sea creatures mobula. From the boat we see a ray mobula repeatedly jump out of the water. During the dive, we find a few here and there with reef coral reef that protrude above. Under and around these blocks hydroides concentrations. Lionfish and bearded scorpion fish lie in wait. Between small rocks is very much present with mostly algae Halimeda algae. In the deeper part are also some whitetip reef sharks and a black spotted stingray seen.
Rangali Madivaru - South West - South Ari Atoll - Rangali region
A very extensive reef runs from 5 meters straight down to a depth of 20 meters where it uitbodemt in a sandy plain with sparse coral blocks. The reef wall has huge holes and hollows, and these are beautifully covered with soft corals and whip. Small bushes dendronepthia soft coral colors are nearby. In between I found a white bladvis. Announced as a dip for big fish went to observe most of the attention here. There were eagle rays and mobula's pulled over in formation. Some small reef sharks and leopard sharks. At the manta cleaning station constantly paraded some medium manta rays beyond the circle in which many divers had taken place on the ground 5 meters deep. This was one of the topduiken during our visit to the ari atoll. Outside the exceptional high risk perception of larger marine life, this dive is also highly recommended to also fully impressive overhangs to explore in search of colorful soft corals and smaller marine life. For photographers are certainly impressive compositions to be found!
Kolhu Kehi - North West - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Thundufushi region
Apparently, "to say of our dive guides and Jambay Irrey 'this place is not listed on the cards with numerous dive sites in Maldives. They warn us of a strong current, but what we see is a wonderful thila with beautiful gardens of soft corals their color scatter over the lush surroundings. I found a wonderful Thecacera picta nudibranch. This dive is a must for wide angle photography with beautiful 'arches' wreathed with purple, pink, red and yellow soft corals. A challenge for many photographers these beautiful colors in a composition process. Maximum depth is about 30 meters.
Degaa thila - North West - SOUTH ARI ATOLL - Thundufushi region
Three pinnacles can be found on the west side of this thila. In between swimming through beautiful formations.
There are beautiful black corals Anthipates found. A young clown trekkersvis swims around in his beautiful childhood pattern of white dots on a black background. A very peculiar canthicaster puffer balls with unusual pattern also swam around. This dive site is suitable for all diving levels and they always find shelter from the current. At the top of the outer rock we found a yellow bladvis. The soil around the pinnacles is about 30 meters deep.
Fish Head - East Central - NORTH ARI ATOLL - Halaveli region
We were met by a strong current in all these books acclaimed dive site to dive. We were dropped off in blue to directly find our way to the head of the thila where the current divides. Here protects and not subject to the strength of the current position we chose for the larger sea life seen parading past. Immediately swam there are already some small whitetip reef sharks over. Was unusual sight of a small gray reef shark pectoral wrong with that and they are helpless to swim laps. A little further we found a badly wounded white tip reef shark. Spores hook to his jaw indicated that he recently was caught and injured his right eye protruding left little to the imagination. The overhangs, we found beautiful soft corals and coral anthipates. A large Napoleon wrasse lay to rest and was willingly photographed. Maximum depth 40m +
Maaya thila - central east - NORTH ARI ATOLL - Halaveli region
Maaya thila is a dive site that is known worldwide for exceptional night dives. Sharks and rays come hunt in the beams of the divers. I visited this dive site for the first time during an afternoon. The top of the reef is about 7 meters deep. There is a sea turtle swam slowly. On this dive I find many beautiful overhangs and hidden in a crevice I have a nice rifwachter. A small white tip reef shark also passed slowly by. There was a fairly strong current but here we were able to find shelter behind the thila. Maximum depth 30m +
Bathalaa maagaa kanthila - East Central - NORTH ARI ATOLL - Halaveli region
This beautiful dive site summarizes it best meets the outer side (ocean side) with incoming tide is to reach a long flared finger reef extending from south to north the depth goes. At the furthest point one has to prepare for gray reef sharks, eagle rays and other pelagic fish can be seen passing by. On top of this plateau is one long anticipation reef whitetip reef sharks, napoleon wrasses and the occasional gray reef shark at. This plateau is about 17 m depth. At low flow, it is a wonderful place to be blue and the numerous finger sponges require us to keep on the lookout for any frogfish. This beautiful dive site is highly recommended that everyone has an opportunity to observe sharks in an environment where one can always stay in control as a diver. They always find shelter in order to avoid the flow. Deepest point more than 40 meters deep!
