Biography
Born in AALST on 30 May 1962. During a holiday in Thailand in 1996 came to a first introduction to the underwater world. This introduction led to a passion that began with the achievement of the PADI open water diver certification in early 1996.
Followed with the PADI 'Advanced Open Water, "" rescue diver "and" dive master certification. It was then, in 1997, which raised awareness of how difficult it is to that incredible feeling, one experiences underwater, to his fellow man across.
I started, equipped with the very first Sony digital video cameras (PC-7 & PC10) housed in an Ikelite housing with Ikelite exposure to making my first underwater video. I further expanded my knowledge in 1998 PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. In addition, I also gained the level of Medical First Aid Instructor.
The passion for underwater filming was just bigger and I undertook my first trip to Bali to do with the video camera to explore the underwater world. This trip would determine my future in every way because of my encounter with Wally Siagian that my view of the underwater world in all respects enlarged. As a diving instructor working on liveaboards in Thailand I traveled mainly on the diving instruction.
Free time I used mainly the coral reefs around the Similan islands into view. In 1998 I spent my first visit to Myanmar and his underwater world.
It's May 2000 when I departure from Thailand to Bali and then to travel to French Polynesia where I Society Islands, Tuamotu archipelago Marquises Islands and visit. It is an unforgettable journey. Fantastic underwater images are the result. Once back in Thailand I take during the season back on the wire and work as an instructor for the fifth year in the 'Wicked Witch' a liveaboard under English management. This long-lasting cooperation comes to an abrupt end in 2002 after which I was disappointed in my friends, however, happily married but decided to return to Belgium.
The end of a seven-year great time when I was about 1900 logged dives and 150 hours of digital video collection. Before my trip I decide to start a visit to Sulawesi (Indonesia). May 2002 is one of the most fascinating month ever with beautiful diving in Bunaken National Park and a wonderful place 'Lembeh straits' mentioned. It's on my return to Belgium that I finally started my underwater images made to catalog. The inventory of images leads to the discovery of the world premiere footage of the slug 'Hypselodoris Zebrina' which pictures are recorded on the website of the Australian Museum for Science in Sydney, Australia. The impression of the "Lembeh straits' and kept me in the wonderful camouflage techniques that I could see.
End 2002 I start my first documentary 'The most beautiful camouflage. In April 2003, for the first time I take part in an international underwater film festival at Strasbourg, France. It is the beginning of the breakthrough results and further propel me further. I receive the trophy for sporting merit for the extensive efforts to perfect myself in diving.
In late 2003 I bring a first visit to the underwater world in the 'Red Sea'. In 2004 I was a member of NELOS - FEBRAS - CMAS - PADI.
The Belgian diving federation justifies me to represent Belgium at the 1st CMAS underwater film world championships in Italy. The 'fĂȘte de l'image sous-marine "Strasbourg is already the location for the premiere of my second documentary" The world of gastropoda. 2004 a successful year with numerous wins and podium places at international film festivals.
In late 2004, a period with contradictions. December 2004: RTBF television buys the rights for an initial TV broadcast of my documentary. An absolute highlight. On 26 december 2004 I witnessed the devastating tsunami during my stay in Thailand. I'm very lucky.
End of March 2005 I'll be back in Belgium. Many plans and continue to work on a third documentary on the program ............... expanding my record! 2006 will be a fascinating year with the production of 10 short films for Muzee Scheveningen. At the World Festival of Underwater Images in Antibes I Achieve bronze.
New camera equipment and the switch to 'High Definition' is a fact.
And from now on .... to the top
2007, in light of the production of "The windows of life."
The film takes home on almost all underwater film festivals in the world with the highest prices. A truly successful year which runs until 2008.
In 2008, focused all my attention focused on producing a documentary first long play. At the 35st World Festival of Underwater Images in Antibes, the film world premiere. To my surprise I win back the 'Yellow Fin'!
